Today (November 19) Google launches it’s gaming platform Stadia. It’s a cloud gaming platform meaning games run on the cloud. This basically means one needs no other physical device to play AAA games except a display device and a good internet connection.
Now you may wonder how one can play games without having a gaming device let alone AAA titles. Basically you just need a high-speed internet connection and a display device capable of running chrome. Everything else will run on the server. How? Google has incredible amount of data centers throughout the world. Stadia is based on these data centers. This means games will run on the nearest data centers located from the user.
Google recommends having at least 20Mbps internet speed to play 1080p AAA titles smoothly. Although minimum is 10Mbps. That’s it! You can play them on your phone (not yet), on your old laptop etc. Google also offers a custom stadia controller with direct server link to give smooth and lag free controlling experience just for 129 bucks!
One of the unique features of Stadia is it is connected with YouTube. And gamers can stream high resolution gameplay with a unique feature called state saving.
Now come to the main point… Stadia will revolutionize the gaming industry in a unique way that was never happened before. For so long AAA gaming required having high end high configuration physical gaming devices that mostly out of reach for a vast number of peoples. Now you don’t have to own a gaming gig to play games like DOOM, The Elder Scrolls etc. Google actually demonstrated DOOM on Stadia with amazing performance.
Now, how much Stadia will cost for general peoples?
Stadia will have two tires. One is free of charge but will have less features. And the other will be 10 bucks per month with monthly at least one free titles. The free tire will have no free offer, that means you have to buy games before able to play. Don’t worry! You would have to buy them in other platforms anyway.
More and more game developers are being interested to support Stadia. More and more titles are coming to it. And you just will not be able to play high quality AAA game titles like Mortal Kombat, but also be able to stream them on YouTube directly. Without having any physical gaming devices. Isn’t it interesting?
Isn’t it game changing? 😃
